Psychotherapy & Counselling

Talking Cure Therapy offers online and in-person psychotherapy and counselling that can help with a range of different emotional and mental health issues. In a complex world filled with stresses, anxieties, insecurities and worries we are increasingly looking to talking therapies to help us find our way through and feel better.

What is Talking Cure Therapy?

Psychotherapy (often referred to as ‘talking therapy’ by the NHS) is used to treat emotional problems and mental health issues. Talking to a trained professional – rather than a friend or relative - can be extremely helpful. Therapy is more than simply sitting and talking about your problems once a week - what may appear like ‘just talking’ is much more active and reflective.

Psychotherapists are specialist mental health professionals who are trained to listen to a person’s problems in order to try and get to the origin of them. They help find ways of understanding, reflecting and reframing what has happened to help cope and feel better.

If you would like more information on what therapy is, and how it works, there is more detail in the FAQ section.

A little about my approach

I try to create an environment that is warm and open. Feeling relaxed and able to talk without fear of criticism or judgement is essential in therapy. I understand that talking to a therapist can feel strange, intimidating or even frightening to some. During my time in the NHS, I worked with a very wide and diverse range of people of all ages, from all backgrounds and walks of life, with a huge range of difficulties and issues.

My training:

I am a fully accredited member of the BACP (rather than just a member), meaning I have met their higher standards of practice, competency and ethical commitment. I draw on a selection of therapy models that best suit the needs of each person I work with as an individual. This allows for different ways of working at different times, depending on what is happening in someone’s life, or how they may be feeling at that particular time. I draw from different models of therapy including person-centred and humanistic, as well as psychodynamic. I have a particular interest in Attachment Theory and Neuropsychology, trying to understand how experience impacts and shapes brain development.

You can read more about these ideas in the Articles section.
